Cycle Tanzania

Tanzania

International Childcare Trust is looking for 30 thrill-seekers to raise much needed funds for children in Africa & Asia by cycling across Tanzania…

International Childcare Trust’s Cycle Tanzania offers an amazing opportunity to assure that you leave your mark on 2009.

Cycle over 300km from ‘Dar es Salaam, through Saadani National Park to the foot of the Uluguru Mountains outside Morogoro. This ride will take you off the beaten track and beyond the boundaries of a normal safari; through game reserves, passing Maasai tribes and camping under the starry African sky.

Seyi Kolade, who did the ICT’s Cycle India 2008 said: “The trip surpassed my expectations which I thought it would, however the sense of accomplishment, experience, and conversations I had with people and feelings I had, made it a trip of a lifetime.”

So get on your bike; have fun; get fit and make great contacts. Uniquely, the ride ends with a visit to an ICT supported children’s project so you can see, first hand, how your fundraising efforts will help make a difference.

International Childcare Trust is a small dynamic UK registered charity working, in direct partnership with local organisations in Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, Cambodia, Sri Lanka and India that protect children’s rights; such as their right to education and to a healthy, happy childhood.

Tanzania is one of the unique destinations on the African continent that has yet to be discovered by many. It is a land of many wonders, with an unparalleled diversity of fauna and flora. Through ICT’s cycle challenge, riders will be able to visit the historic town of Bagamayo, the mainland embarkation point for Tanzanian slaves being shipped to Zanzibar and then onto foreign lands; Saadani National Park, which is the perfect union of beach and bush, and offers the opportunity for cyclists to ride along side hippos, flamingos and giraffes; and Morogoro, a beautiful town with a dominant backdrop of the Uluguru Mountains. The sights and sounds of this country, along with the tough on-going cycling, ensure for a memorable trip.

This challenge provides more than just the chance to view an exquisite country, as Margaret O’Grady, ICT’s Executive Director, explains, “Being part of a group of 30 where you experience all these things together is a real bonding experience. You get to meet people from all walks of life that you might otherwise never have known. And it doesn’t matter who you are. You don’t need to own your own bike or be an expert cyclist, just as long as you are reasonably fit and ready for a challenge!”

Places are limited, so jump on the band wagon ASAP before this becomes another idea for the year that falls short and forgotten from the ‘To do list’ of 2009.

So if you fancy getting on your bike and making a difference to your life and someone else’s; please contact us as soon as possible. For your free information pack, contact Rachel Kennedy on 020 7065 0975 or visit www.cycletanzania.com
