The Nocturne Series
Edinburgh, London, Blackpool
The UK's top riders will battle it out across a series of spectacular urban circuits to take the glory as fastest street racer in the UK. Held at night time in some of the UK’s most iconic city locations - the Nocturne Series is the Formula 1 of cycle racing.
The 2009 Nocturne Series events in Edinburgh, London and Blackpool will be supported by leading industry brands Highland Spring, Red Bull and Malmaison hotels.
Following the success of the award winning Smithfield Nocturne in 2007 FACE developed the Nocturne Series in 2008 adding Salford Quays to the calendar. Both events were an unprecedented success and have led to the creation of a Series that meets the needs of teams, riders and the sport whilst delivering a night of exciting entertainment that appeals to a wide cross section of the community, from families to hardened cycling fans.
The Nocturne Series is re-inventing inner city racing and creating an exciting new cycle race format that blends entertainment and performance sport. The UK's top riders will battle it out across a series of spectacular urban circuits to take the glory as fastest street racer in the UK. Held at night time in some of the UK’s most iconic city locations - the Nocturne Series is the Formula 1 of cycle racing.
Each Nocturne will be held on Saturday evening and each course will be unique with different technical ratings and characteristics. 2009 locations include Edinburgh (30th May), London (6th June) and Blackpool (1st August).
The Nocturne events also include support races and festival attractions which appeal to race fans and families alike and are designed to maximise the community impact from the event. Races include the Folding Bike Race, Support Race, Corporate Challenge, Youth Racing, Rollapaluza Roller Racing and a range of exhibition events.
The original concept for the Smithfield Nocturne was created by Rapha and Condor in 2007 and developed in partnership with leading cycling agency FACE Partnership.
The Nocturne Series kicks off in Edinburgh on the 30th May, before moving to Smithfield Market in London on the 6th June and Blackpool on the 1st August. For full details of the Nocturne Series concept and individual events go to www.nocturneseries.com
