You can find a selection of the headlines from the 2011 show here. Alternatively, our multi-paged write up from last year's show can be found here.

Over 40,000 industry visitors headed to the show this year from over 100 countries.

A whopping 20,000 cycling enthusiasts visited on the public day and 1,800 journalists attended the trade event.

What did the industry think was hot at Eurobike 2011? 29ers, Ultegra Di2 and e-bikes.

The organisers have collected quotes from key players in the international bike trade. There's also a thread on the BikeBiz Forum on the show (you'll have to log in to view it).

Shimano head of directors Yoshizo Shimano, said: "Once again, the Eurobike has been very successful for us. The general atmosphere was very good and shows that the bicycling industry is looking forward to a bright future. There has been a lot of interest in our new products, especially for Ultegra Di2, our new electronic shifting components that will change the road racing market forever."

Cycling Sports Group Europe GM Tobias Schweter commented: “It could not have been better. This year even more was happening than last year and we are very pleased with how things went. The number of visitors we got on the industry days was almost as high as on the day on which the show was open to the general public.”

Schwalbe-Ralf Bohle CEO Frank Bohle said: “Stands with heavy visitor traffic and full aisles were hallmarks of the Eurobike again this year. At our stand, we had more international visitors than every before and the mood was remarkably positive. In our opinion, the Eurobike is reaffirming its position as the World’s leading trade show for the bicycle industry. For the big trends like e-bikes and 29-inch mountain bikes, we are offering a broad new palette of products and are confidently looking forward to the 2012 bike season.”

Cube owner and CEO Marcus Pürner also had his say on Eurobike 2011: “The resonance at this year’s Eurobike was very positive, we saw great interest from the visitors and there were more visitors than in previous years. The mood here was really great.”

Giant director Oliver Hensche said: “Our stand was heavily frequented by visitors, from morning until night. Of course we are pleased and the mood is good. Our program is also well received, Demo Day has never been more successful- With 80 test bikes, we had more awards than ever before. For us, the Eurobike is the world’s more important trade show and we plan to come back and continue with our work next year. Subjectively, we had the impression that the traffic problems had eased.”

SRAM marketing manager Dirk Belling added: “We have been happily coming here for over 20 years and intend to come to Friedrichshafen for the Eurobike for at least another 20 years.”
