Break-the-law Addison Lee boss tells cyclists to pay to use roads
You could argue that this is a chap who is, through some ill judged comments and advice to his fleet, going to discourage cyclists from using the roads of London, which you could argue is something of interest to bike retailers in the capital at least. If we ignore him it might go away, or it might become acceptable and cyclists will be deterred from cycling...

Cyclescheme gets behind Cytech-trained bike shops
We've amended the story. It's not that 80% of shops Cyclescheme works with are Cytech trained, but it's 80% of the total number of Cytech stores in the UK are part of the Cyclescheme network. Apologies for any confusion.

Cycling props up the High Street
Re: independents losing out/cycle retail in numbers... I'm trying to get some rough figures on the number of independents shutting compared with opening, so BikeBiz will pick up on those threads soon I hope. Also, I forgot to mention the rise of Decathlon in my article, who now have 13 or so stores.

Bike industry stars shine at 2011 trade awards
It was the bike industry what done it! This year a total of 79 judges from the bicycle industry voted, who will be named in the November issue of the magazine. Following this year's awards we've had plenty of enquiries about how people can get involved next year and about how the whole process works. All you have to do is keep them peeled for announcements from us on BikeBiz.com. Every year we ask for the trade to lobby us with who they think deserves an award. After that we put together the list of finalists based on those nominations. At this point we also ask the industry if anyone want to be a judge, they do the judging and then the winners are announced on the Awards night. Dead simple.
