This month BikeBiz takes a look at Mavic TEL: 01276 404853 EMAIL: alex_coventry@mavic.fr WEB: www.mavic.com
What's different about Mavic's cycle computers?
Aside from the fact that Mavic was the first company to bring digital transmission to the market, the USPs are a fully integrated system with the E-Bolt, removing the need for a fork sensor. The computers also feature a completely adjustable head mount, allowing for perfect positioning, coupled with all the functions you need, including cadence, HRM and altimeter.
Will Mavic ever expand into other components?
Mavic's cycle component range includes wheels, rims, cycle computers, range topping road brake callipers, and cassettes with fully interchangeable ratios. Obviously, we also have all the relevant wheel spares and accessories available as well.
Where are Mavic goods manufactured?
The majority of Mavic products are still manufactured in France.
Why should bicycle dealers get in touch with you?
From September, for the 2009 range, Mavic UK will be the only point of contact for your Mavic products, including wheels and all spare parts.
We will also launch for the Spring/Summer 2009 season a very exciting new range of cycling specific Mavic soft goods and footwear replacing the Adidas line.
Why Mavic over other brands?
Mavic has the technology, the performance and the history, and with the new set-up we will be able to give the back up and support retailers need.
How's business?
Business for Mavic is good – but of course we are all worried about the state of the UK economy and the Euro/Sterling exchange rate. Mavic is an expanding business and the 2007 year was very successful for us. We hope to continue this progress through 2008.
What will be different now retailers can go direct?
Retailers will receive an improved level of service, from product deliveries to spares availability, to technical information and training.
There will also be a very structured retailer offer improving the service and margin.
What new product can we expect to see from Mavic this year?
The new Mavic soft range will be very exciting with some real stand-out products in both clothing and footwear, as well as some new MTB and road wheels.
Will Mavic be looking at the 29-inch wheel arena's potential?
Mavic has already made an entry into the 29-inch arena with the Crossmax 29 wheel. This has had some great success in the US and I think we'll see many more of them around in the UK next season.
