Get set for Core
A look ahead to the Corebike event
Dec 3
CoreBike now has 15 exhibiting companies. That's 150 brands, all under one roof. And don't forget, the posh hotel venue has a spa!
BUFF
As this is our first time at Core Bike we are particularly keen to show retailers how we can support them in successfully merchandising our brands. We have an extensive range of proven display and point of sale materials that have helped to make Buff headwear one of the highest turnover items for many of our customers. Hides is a much more compact range but nonetheless we have merchandising materials creating an eye-catching and desirable display.
2PURE
The pioneering work of the German ergonomic specialists SQ lab allows you to help customers ride out of the door with the most comfortable bike for their needs, whether it be tearing up the local trail centre or spinning down a nearby canal path.
Come and get measured up for saddles, insoles and bar grips by Dirk from SQ labs. He will be able to show the whole SQ lab ethos at work and offer you great tips on how best to implement the system in your own outlets.
The new Steve Peat signature range of grips is available in white and grey with cool contrasting Lock-On collars. The ever popular Charger grip is now available as a Lock-On and new colours are available throughout the range.
Crank Brothers pedals will be on display including the all new Mallets. The eagerly anticipated Joplin with 'on the fly' height adjustment will surely be on many bikes over the next year; we have it for you to play with. We are operating a pedal servicing session so you can all see what's inside a set of shiny lovely set of Crank Brothers pedals.
Lock it down with Pinhead, the patented locking closure secures bike components from sticky fingers. Lightweight, unobtrusive and easy to use – peace of mind comes built in.
Reelight: come and see what all the fuss is about. Legs become batteries and magnets do the rest. See the latest Niterider kit including the awesome TriNewt and its smaller cousin the MiNewt – now with X2 designation these are brighter and longer lasting than last year's.
Clif Bar has a commitment to people, to community, and to environment. It's a truly ethical company - with a truly tasty product. We will have the lovely and very racy Rivette bikes for your inspection. The super fast R6 road bike will be there for IBDs to drool over.
ATB SALES
We decided to exhibit at Core Bike in 2007 and found it to be a great show. There is a good buzz, being able to have a conversation over a beer in the bar, or over the table during dinner. If you come to Core you will be surrounded by premium brands from premium suppliers. Why choose ATB Sales as a business Partner? UK-based; sales, warehouse, warranty; IBD-focused; industry-leading in maintaining IBD profit margins; industry-envied stock availability; next day delivery; attractive terms of trade.
Marin has brought many innovations to the cycling community and 2008 is our best. Leading edge innovations in frame and suspension designs embody our commitment to product development and ride quality. The new Attack Trail was awarded a perfect 10 by MBUK, and the new Mount Vision won the group test against the stiffest competition.
Mezzo is our highly acclaimed folding bike, a UK-designed compact folding bike that unfolds in no more time than it takes to tie your shoelaces. Created by Jon Whyte, an ex-Formula 1 engineer turned award-winning bicycle designer, Mezzo folding bikes achieve a new level of performance and practicality.
Whyte Designs is a UK-based team that specialises in developing suspension systems that guarantee exceptional performance, efficiency and longevity. Core will be the first time for many to see Whyte's new XC ultimte trail bike the E120 Carbon.
Wiiler was founded in 1906 by Pietro Dal Molin near Bassano del Grappa Italy, where they can be found today. The company burst into the modern era when Marco Pantani won stages in the 1995 Giro d'Italia and followed this up with fourth place in the 1997 Tour de France after winning a record breaking Alpe d'Huez stage.
Norco is over 40 years of age, and has been one of the pioneers of new skool ridin' everyone is hooked on in the latest DVDs.
RJ CHICKEN
Bouncing back after a serious fire, Chicken want to say a personal thank you to all those with messages of concern and support following the disaster. Happily and with the support of their suppliers, Chicken stocks will be completely replenished before the end of November.
With a new website live since November 12th, customers have had the benefit of drawing down supplies of many 2008 products earlier than expected.
We are only one of three remaining SKS distributors to be at Core. We are the only Mavic, KMC and Campagnolo distributor to be there with the latest products. The full range of Cinelli, Time and Tifosi bikes will also be on show.
Packhorse Place – our new address - has a slightly antiquarian ring. Almost Pickwickean? Well it is anything but. Our new warehouse and office, situated on the old Watling Street – now the A5 – is still in Kensworth, seven minutes from the M1, the road we have trodden for 30 years since our move from Watford.
It is from here that we are now operating with the benefit of large additional bulk storage locally. Bisley Works, with all its memories, is no more and we can say a personal thank you to all those whose messages of concern and support, following the disaster, helped us get over the saddest day in our business life. Happily, and with the support of our suppliers, our stocks were completely replenished before the end of November – less than three weeks after the fire. This was a fantastic effort on their part.
Within 10 days of the arsonist’s strike of a match, we had 40 per cent product availability (not counting spare parts). By the end of November we had 70-75 per cent availability – albeit not ready for despatch. But this was not a win-win situation.
We lost 50 plus years of cycling memorabilia, racing momentoes, an extensive library; we lost momentum – you did not have our continuous ex-stock availability and your customers have missed out on the services of our warranty and replacement parts which they have quite rightly come to rely on.
The destruction of Bisley Works was total. The only remaining item, intact though cracked, was found in the debris. Still hanging on a blackened wall - an engraved plate dated 1981 to mark the production of the 200,000,000th tyre at the Vredestein works in Holland since inception in 1934. There are probably a few dealers who will still remember those fun trips to the Dutch factory.
At Core, Chicken is offering a unique opportunity to see a further ten exclusive agency product ranges, including products from Time, Wintech, adidas, Mavic, Vredestein and, new for 2008, Veloman computers.
At 6.30 every evening you are invited to drop in for a drink at the Nurnburgring Room. Socialise with us and fellow IBDs.
HOPE TECHNOLOGY
This year we can be found in the Suzuka suite. This gives more room for a new, practical 'hands on' area for workshop questions and queries. Practical demonstrations will take place throughout the day, on demand. So, if you are unsure of a procedure, want to know if there is a better way of doing something or are just interested to learn, a member of staff will be on hand to demonstate repairs and give tips for workshop staff. We'll also have promotions on tooling and spares.
There will be special show offers available on different products throughout the range.
A staff discount programme will be available to all Core dealers, again only at the show – something that won't be available afterwards throughout the year. This is something new for 08 and it's a great opportunity for dealers to get staff on our product at special prices.
All the new riding clothing will be available to see and order. 2008 dealer information, pricing and POS will be available to take away from the show.
Road wheels will be available to see for the first time, along with the 1LED and 4LED lights and new bottom bracket as well as the show stopping kid's bike.
FOX
Fox International, based in Morgan Hill, CA, has been a global leader in performance action sports apparel since 1974. For 34 years, the Fox Head logo has been recognised as a brand synonymous with quality and innovation around the world. The company that helped put motocross on the map also designs, produces and distributes clothing, accessories and related products to over 50 countries to meet the growing demands of the action sports lifestyle.
Before we discuss the exciting intros to the 2008 line we want to thank you for the great support in 2007. Our 07 product line has received incredible response from our dealers, the media and riders alike. Products such as the Epic short, the predecessor to the all new Attack short, received an editor's choice award for best Baggy short from Bicycling magazine.
The Flux Helmet received praise from all corners of the planet, and the Sergeant short won over an army of converts.
At the Core bike Show we’re proud to introduce the 2008 collection. Once again the design and development team at Fox has been hard at work to bring you a stunning range. Some of the highlights include:
The Transition Helmet – building on the success of the Flux, the same in-molding technology and classy design. The result is a lightweight, high performance lid for the dirt jump riders.
The Flow Jersey – this piece has received a radical makeover for 2008, with an integrated inner layer wicking mesh shirt and a custom MP3 sleeve, complete with an inner cord routing system to dock those ear speakers when not in use.
These products, in addition to the rest of the 2008 range, give riders the tools they need to climb, sweat, descend, jump, rip, gap, rail, and otherwise charge the trails.
ISON DISTRIBUTION
Ison Distribution owners and key staff will be on hand at Core Bike offering advice and details on the very latest products from their quality in-house brands and their exclusive leading international brands. Traditional styling, whilst utilizing modern materials and production values. Appealing to both Cambridge University students and local commuter cyclists alike. Quality dealers looking for something exclusive should get into Light Blue early... as we are only looking for an initial 50 approved stockists.
MRP is the choice of double World Champions Steve Peat and Brian Lopes. MRP is the long-time pioneer in chain guide design and has raised the bar for 2008 with the patented G2 chain guide system. Talk to Paul Aieta – who's come all the way from Colorado… just to speak to UK IBDs.
ODI, the USA's number one grip manufacturer continues to dominate the competition MTB grip scene. Ison Distribution carry every model in every size and in every colour.
Passport is a new commuter brand offering everything the everyday cyclist needs to keep his cycle on the road. (New: lamp brackets for those fully loaded rear racks… where do you place your favourite seat post fitting tail lamp?) Passport: making travel by bicycle easier.
Staff from Salsa will be at the Core Bike show – all the way from the USA to show you what's hot and spicy for 2008...
Society is a great new suspension fork brand available via Ison. Surly bike sales just keep on growing and 2008 is predicted to be a good year.
TSGs 2008 range sees the introduction of a whole host of new pads, gloves and helmets covering every style of riding and skating including a new road/XC helmet.

Jango is a brilliant new concept in bicycles, inspired by Topeak, will be on show. Fizik has an array of new innovative and improved saddles.

ORANGE
Core provides an opportunity for dealers who have never seen what goes into the making of a mountain bike to find out a little bit more. Orange will be running two presentations a day explaining how they make their full suspension mountain bike frames and assemble them into bikes. Presentations will last around 30 minutes and will explain the unique custom 'build to order' option we offer to our dealers to help satisfy the demands of the more discerning customer. Each bike is handbuilt in our Halifax factory so we leave it to the customer to choose from a range of suspension fork, components, wheelsets and paint options to create their perfect bike, find out just how we do this at Core.
Part of that presentation will also focus on our prototype CDS (Carbon Drive System) belt bikes as well as gearbox bikes to let you see what you may be selling in the future. On display we'll have our top selling 5 and P7 models, along with retro Prestige and other selected models from our range
We will also demonstrate our new web based system which provides all Orange dealers with their own webspace within the Orange website and provide help and assistance for dealers in using it.
PACE
2007 marked the twentieth year for Pace. We pioneered a threadless headset and one-piece steerer stem system, introduced alternative box sections into frame design and used hydraulic disc brakes and dedicated mounts when everyone else had one inch threaded headsets and cantilever anchors. For 2008 we have decided to go back to our roots and concentrate on the design and development of mountain bike frames.
DT SWISS have taken over the fork side of our business. For 2008 Pace will be offering a choice of over 40 factory recommended 'Rolling Chassis' kits based around our award winning framesets and using the very latest quality parts from DT, Rockshox and Hope.

UPGRADE
Reynolds solitude wheels manage to combine the weight (only 1590g) and performance of a specialist race wheel with a price tag (only £349) that suggests they can be used all year round.
A strong, stiff, lightweight aluminum rim with a low spoke count, internal spoke nipples, and a shallow-V profile is mated using DT Swiss Revolution spokes to a Reynolds custom designed sealed cartridge bearing hubset, which features 6-pawl rear hub internals for impressive durability and pick-up.
The Lezyne accessories brand is the brainchild of Micki Kozuschek, the founder of Truvativ. The brand new Lezyne Pressure Drive mini-pump is designed to be compact, durable and light-weight with a full CNC machined alluminiun construction including body, piston and handle. The oversize plunger also houses a reversible Presta/Schreader hose with machined alloy fittings. The Pressure Drive is available in small 90g and medium 103g and retails from £18.99.
The Lezyne Alloy Kit is a hollow forged aluminium container which holds nine self adhesive patches, a stainless tube scuffer and a tyre boot. A rubber plug seals the Alloy Kit from the elements, preserving the patches for when you need them most. The Alloy Kit retails for £5.99 or a plastic packed version 'The Smart Kit' with six patches retails for only £1.99.
The new DMR Redshift tyre ups the game. With a large volume and aggressive tread it's ideal for looser conditions than the present DMR tyres and the wide pattern spacing clears easily to keep the staggered shoulder tread biting predictably in the corners. The Redshift tyre is available in 26x2.25 and has a fast rolling lightweight single ply construction. Retail price is £17.95.
The Geax Barro race tyre is designed for XC racing, where speeds and low rolling resistance are key. The Barro Race is the lightest ever tyre produced by Geax, weighing in at a mere 380g for the folding 2" version. Geax tyres are also available in a TNT (Tube No Tube) format which, with sealant, can be run tubeless but are far lighter than a full UST tubeless tyre. The Barro Race will be £24.95 for folding, £14.95 for wire bead and £26.95 for the TNT version.
Geax are the off road arm of the Italian tyre legends Vittoria.

SILVERFISH
Silverfish has something to offer every rider from World Cup medal hunters, bike park warriors, XC racers and enduro enthusiasts. We know that not every rider is undertaking World Cup races, Trans Alps enduro competitions or Crankworx freeride events, but this is where all of our products are tested to make sure that when your customers go riding they are more than up to the trails they meet.
The Silverfish stand will have everything on display for the IBD with an eye for quality. Added to this there will be representatives from their brands to help give you the latest knowledge and information for your customers. IBDs will also be able to take advantage of show only specials to maximize and increase sales.
Pick up any magazine and read the reviews for yourself to see how Silverfish's products perform. With ‘10/10's’, ‘Bike of the Year’ and ‘Most wanted products’ to offer it is not just us who loves our product range but also your customers.
As in previous years Silverfish will be joined by Chris Tutton, vice President of RaceFace Performance Products. Chris will be on hand to talk all visitors through their latest offering which include the new NEXT Carbon MTB crankset and carbon low riser handle bars. RaceFace continue to lead the way in all disciplines of mountain biking along with a fast expanding road range which is growing in popularity, performance and praise. RaceFace are a must view for any dealer due to their multi price point offerings and ultra performance.
Cove Bikes is another group of Canadian riders who have more chain lube than blood running through their veins. Designed and tested on Vancouver's legendary North Shore terrain, Cove Bikes are built with cycling at their heart. Silverfish will be displaying all the new colours and designs.
With over 25 years of bicycle manufacturing under their belt it is hard not to 'love the ride' of a Rocky Mountain. Hand built quality throughout make these bikes and frames that little bit special and with paint to make customers go weak at the knees.
With an ever increasing range of saddle designs and styles SDG is a firm favorite with IBDs everywhere. Mountain bikers love the Bel-Air shape in railed and I-Beam offerings.
Tri-athletes and road riders love the ultra light weight I-Beam system to help them shave off those vital grams. With more saddle offerings in 2008 from both, standard railed and I-Beam and in more colour options than your local zoo.
E.thirteen has stormed onto the market with its chain guide systems which keep picking up gold medals in World Cup competition. Just ask e.thirteen user Sam Hill. Dave Weagle is still at the head of this rider owned company. Dave Weagle designed Evil Bikes will also be on display with designs, which keep winning awards – 2007 Best Hardcore Hardtail as voted for by What Mountain Bike Magazine.
Intense Tires produces an ever expanding range of tyres at competitive margins and price points.
SockGuy is over tens years old. We will be happy to talk you though the great dealer POS available and low dealer commitments for this multi discipline sock range.
