Vacancy – Sport Marketing Officer

British Cycling is seeking a Senior Marketing Officer to support the Marketing Manager in the planning, development and delivery of the marketing strategy for major domestic and international cycling events.   From the delivery of a multi-channel, major international events marketing campaign to the provision of branding toolkits for grassroots sporting events across the UK, you will be joining a committed and exciting team, who will be essential in defining the progression of our sport.

You will be responsible for:

  • Supporting the development and delivery of the marketing strategy across major international and domestic cycle sport events.
  • The implementation of the event marketing budget and ensuring that this budget is adhered to, while tracking spend and reporting return on investment directly to all stakeholders.
  • Supporting over 60 volunteer delivered CycleSport events by providing marketing collateral and report effective deployment and process improvements.
  • Continually seeking opportunities to extend reach of activity and deliver best value throughout.
  • Working closely with the central communications team to ensure content is delivered through owned channels, providing widest possible reach.
  • Ensure all marketing activity is measured and documented and key learnings built into future plans.
  • Managing the activation of partners and stakeholders messaging via CycleSport Events.
  • Briefing and managing external agencies and internal graphics and video departments where appropriate.
  • Assisting the sponsorship team to ensure that branding is present and reported upon as per scheduled rights.

What you need is:

  • A minimum of 3 years’ experience marketing events ideally within the sports market.
  • Strong project management and delivery skills across various tracking mechanics developed internally.
  • Ability to work to a high standard to deadlines, while maintaining accuracy across all marketing.
  • Organised and confident in implementing high profile multi-channel marketing campaigns.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently on long-term projects after taking direction from your line manager.
  • Ability to prioritise workload and communicate progress to relevant internal and external stakeholders.
  • Outstanding problem solver, quick to think on their feet with an overview of what is best for the business in an event environment.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with truly excellent communication skills: written and verbal, formal and informal.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Experience in writing copy and content for presentations, pitches and press releases.
  • Operational knowledge of e-mailing marketing platforms such as Adestra or Dotmailer.
  • Understanding of social media marketing tactics, both paid for and organic.
  • Able to produce and provide feedback upon campaign plans.
