Could you design a better bivvy?

Or snugglier sleeping bag? Or a clever tent-bike combo?
If so, enter the coLab 08 : Alpkit.com National Innovation Award.
This is a design competition, run in co-operation with The Outdoors Show, to encourage individuals or teams of outdoor enthusiasts, to get involved with designing their own kit. The Alpkit National Innovation Award will allow nine finalists to showcase their designs at the NEC and face a public vote on March 16th 2008.
Alpkit is a producer of outdoor gear, such as down jackets and bivvy-bags. Alpkit’s Nick Smith said: “We have all sat around the fire chatting to friends or idly doodling in our note pads.
This time it’s for real and the winning idea will have a chance of becoming a real product.”
The judging panel will be drawn from all quarters; press, academics, manufacturing and pro-users. Although the panel will shortlist the projects to go through to the design showcase, it will be the vistiting public that will decide the eventual winner during the three days of The Outdoors Show in March 2008.
