Two new 29-inch models come to market (UK distributor correction)
Fulcrum has entered the 29-inch wheel market with two models: the Red Metal 29 XLR (top of the range) and the Red Metal 29 SL (mid range).
The decision to present two 29-inch models gives Fulcrum one of its first real steps into the MTB market, as opposed to its traditional road only customer base.
29-inch wheels are already a reality in the United States where they constitute 15 percent of the market.
These wheels provide many benefits for people who are over 1.85 metres tall.
The Red Metal 29 XLR and the Red Metal 29 SL will be available starting from the month of June, via the sole Uk distributor and service centre Jim walker and Co.

It's a common misconception from those who haven't ridden them that 29'ers are only for tall people. I've now got 3 29'ers despite being 5'9"..... Benefits are improved traction due to double-sized contact patch, greater stability due to increased BB drop (sit in the bike, not on it) and "virtual suspension" as the wheels don't drop into holes as readily as a 26" and roll over roots, rocks, and bumps far smoother than a 26" wheel.
Also - Fulcrum have had 26" MTB wheels available for some time, so it's hardly their first forray into the MTB market!
