The squad that includes Erik Zabel and Alessandro Petacchi has signed a deal with Garmin. Team members will get Edge 305's to monitor speed, location, HR, cadence and other functions. Training and race data will also be made public via the Garmin-owned mapping and training site, MotionBased.com
Team Milram was founded in 2006. The deal with Garmin is good through to 2009.
Garmin will supply the team with its Edge 305 heart rate and cadence monitoring GPS devices for use during training and racing. It will also supply the team’s cars and vans with nüvi 660 sat-nav devices.
Team manager Gianluigi Stanga said: “We made a good start in 2006, but we are looking to improve our performances during the 2007 season.
“We have set some tough, but achievable goals for the team. Having Garmin on-board supplying our cycle computers will enable us to fine-tune our training practices, accurately review each cyclist’s performance at every stage of every race and give us an even better chance of meeting these targets and winning key races.”
From March, Milram will upload regular training and key race stage information to an offshoot of the Motionbased.com website.
