Whose wee was it?

Dr Arnie Baker is a friend and staunch defender of Tour de France winner Floyd Landis. He's currently touring the US with a PowerPoint presentation which aims to demonstrate how Landis is innocent. One of his latest slides shows that the French anti-doping lab may have published the results from a urine sample provided not by Landis but by another rider.

Baker has previously demonstrated that the French doping lab had provided "mislabelled" urine samples. It now turns out the "typos" on the urine samples aren't random mistakes, the numbers match another rider tested at the Tour de France. These "typos" have been accepted as mistakes by the French doping lab, albeit minor paperwork errors, but Dr Baker's assertion that the typos aren't random but could mean the sample in question belongs to rider other than Landis is new.

Tour de France for Dummies co-author Sammarye Lewis said: "If the piss don't fit, you got to acquit."

Drip by drip, leak by leak, day by day, the case for an early acquital of Floyd Landis grows and grows. Landis is scheduled to appear before a hearing panel on May 14th, a hearing he has asked to be held in public.

If the Landis team's revelations continue to paint a picture of sample custody snafus and sloppy lab work, by rights the case against the American athlete ought to be collapsed long before May 14th.

ACT

However, the US Anti-doping agency may not have a mechanism to halt the hearing. It's not a court of law, lawyers cannot get together and agree an 'out of court' settlement too prevent a messy 'trial'.
