CPSC recall of 80 000 Adams trailerbikesCPSC recall of 80 000 Adams trailerbikes

The US Consumer Product Safety Commission in cooperation with Norco Products Ltd., of British Columbia, Canada has announced voluntary recalls of Adams Trail-a-Bikes and Adams Slipstream Bicycle Attachments. It's a biggie: all product is being recalled from January 1996 to October 2004.

About 80 000 have been sold since 1996.

The hardware used in the assembly of the universal hitch may come loose causing the unit to separate from the lead bicycle.

Norco Products has received two reports of hardware falling out of the hitch assembly. One minor injury has been reported.

The recall involves the Adams Trail-A-Bike or Adams Slipstream sold under the following models: Starter, Folder, Shifter, Shocker, Ultimate Tandem, Deluxe Folder, Me 2 and Original.

The trailerbikes were manufactured in China.

"Consumers should immediately stop using the product and contact their local bicycle dealer to arrange for an inspection and to receive a no charge repair kit to be installed free," said a joint statement from CPSC and Norco.
