In BikeBiz3 - due out Tues/Weds next week, bit late, sorry - the editorial argues Sustrans should keep getting the bike levy even when the £1 million has been raised. The following press release is a good example of why: Sustrans is getting people on their bikes...

EXTRACT FROM SUSTRANS PRESS RELEASE:
Christmas 1999 is the last chance to ride a new bike in the 20th Century. If Father Christmas does not bring you a new one why not get your old bike out the shed and go for a ride over the festive season. This is the Christmas message from Sustrans, the charity developing the National Cycle Network. There are routes across the UK and plenty of opportunities to take the kids out on their new bikes for a short ride

Sustrans supporter Tony Robinson, presenter of Channel 4s TimeTeam and star of Blackadder, said: This Christmas is likely to be stuffed with repeats of all sorts.

BikeBiz Awards

After all that over-eating and watching the television why not get the bike out and use the National Cycle Network in your area? Its a great way to blow away the cobwebs and the Network has loads of traffic-free paths, ideal for a gentle ride or going out with the family and friends. Why not make it a New Years resolution for the New Millennium to go cycling regularly it makes for a healthier life.
