£100k to be pumped into big idea
Carlton Reid Nov 27 2006, 10:45am
Cyclaire, the Newcastle upon Tyne pump company, won Sky TV's prime-time 'The Big Idea' business competition on Saturday night.
Julian Peck of Innoverce Ltd. scooped the top prize after a battle with five fellow finalists.
The £100,000 will be spent on developing the next generation of Cyclaire pumps. The existing pump uses a pull-cord to activate the inflation.
The Cyclaire pump wasn't the only bike trade innovation on the series.
Michael Killian's Sideways bike was featured on an earlier programme. A video of his bike - often seen outside the main doors at the Interbike show in Las Vegas - being put through its paces on the show can be watched here.
