Madison has backed event guru Pat Adams' latest explosive idea

Shimano is backing Provelo Support's new event for 2008. The world's first 24-hour road race will take place on the weekend of July 12-13th. It's for teams of five riders. In year one, the field will be limited to 250 teams.

Experienced enduro organiser Pat Adams of Provelo Support said:

"Ten years ago Madison and I worked hard to create the UK's first 24 hour MTB event and now once again we are working together to create this new watershed for enduro road racing."

The race will be held on an 8.9 mile closed-to-the-public road circuit on the scenic Sennybridge army training area in the Brecon Beacons.

Madison CEO Dominic Langan said:

"Finding a suitable venue for this event has been a real struggle, but Pat has found a truly jaw dropping location. There is no monotony; it has climbs, descents, hairpin bends and the Welsh weather so without doubt it'll be a real challenge for the riders. This is unlike any other event we sponsor, it is unique, it is groundbreaking and as such it is only right that Shimano should be the title sponsor."
