UNESCO org launches bike design competitionUNESCO org launches bike design competition

The Design 21 competition for new cycle accessories has a top prize of $5000.

"This competition calls for a biking accessory or add-on for existing bikes that would improve the bicycling experience and encourage more people to make biking their primary means of transport."

The closing date is 30th April. One of the judges is Jens Martin Skibsted, founder of Danish bike company Biomega.

A Puma folding bike, co-designed by Skibsted can be found in New York's Musuem of Modern Art, MoMA.

James Thomas of the influential Bicycle Design blog has featured Skibsted's work.
