US mountain bike brand to come to UK
Windwave has announced it will take on distribution of Corsair Bikes, a premium US mountain bike brand, in the UK.
Windwave will add Corsair to their brand list, which currently includes Marzocchi, Colnago, FSA, Vision, Gravity, Mace, Nokon, BLT, A2Z and Ice Toolz.
Corsair bikes was founded in December 2006 and already the range consists of several innovative suspension frames featuring fresh design solutions with exceptional build quality.
The Centre Balance design is at the heart of each frame, centralizing mass to improve handling. The Idler Pulley system all but eliminates chain growth and adjustable head tubes allow the fine-tuning of the head angle.
Corsair president Doug Stuart said “I am really happy to have Windwave as a member of the Corsair family.
The UK will be an important market for Corsair and I am very confident that Windwave will be successful with our exciting new brand and product range.”
Corsair Bikes is a new bicycle company with offices in Seattle, Washington and Salt Lake City, Utah. The company’s mission is to make high performance mountain bikes designed for hardcore riders. All frames are designed by former professional DH racer and Whistler, BC local Pablo Tafoya.

“Windwave & Corsair bikes”

So many brands, so many models. How does the retailer keep up? How do consumers keep up or even care about all these new companies and bikes? Are any companies going out of business at the other end of the equation? Is the market growing so fast we need even more bikes? it must be very difficult for retailers to capitalise all this stock. How do they do it?

Philip, I think you are making a good argument against the wrong importer and the wrong brand. Corsair are a niche brand that are desirable to a small and diverse DH/FR market. This is actually the first brand of its type that Windwave had taken on and it is a brand that will complement many of their other products.
As for retailers, you will find that they do not have to stock such products directly or have a massive supply of the frames etc. All they need is for Windwave to stock the products then display samples. You don't impulsively buy a
Corsair Frame, it is something you plan to buy.
As far as I'm aware, the only people in the market that are failing are those that cannot keep up with competition or with current trends in Cycling. Oh, and those that don't understand their own customer base (common problem).

Andy. Thanks mate for the reply. Frankly, your explanation is much more than I was able to extract from the story. Maybe it would be good to have some stories about the competitive situation and the current trends in the market rather than just, sorry guys, media releases. Andy. Do you own a bike shop? Maybe you should contribute a story about the trends in the business?
