Route unveiled at London's Transport Museum
The 2008 Tour of Britain got off to a successful launch, as the route of this year’s race was unveiled at London’s Transport Museum in Covent Garden. The route has been described as “the most ambitious and wide reaching edition of the race to date,” by Technical Director, Michael Bennett.
Grant Young, owner of Condor Cycles described the races’ new
television deal, which will see daily highlights screened on ITV4, as a “breakthrough” for the event and something that made him even happier to see the Rapha Condor Recycling team announced as one of the first four invited teams to the 2008 edition of the race.
Dominic Langan, CEO of Madison echoed those comments saying: “We’re looking forward to it; it looks a very strong route this year and the TV deal is just the icing on the cake for us. I think the start in London looks excellent and the TV coverage is just what we’ve been wanting, it’s going to be really good.
We think it’s a great opportunity for us to showcase our products around the country, direct to consumers. It provides a good opportunity for us to meet our customers and it works really well for us, so we look forward to it every year.”

In OZ, unless you buy Pay TV you don't see a lot of cycle races and and OS events on the Free to Air channels - except SBS who cover the T d F and produce a pretty good TV program on Sunday - in the middle of the day (when everyone is out riding). Pity about that. Good to hear about the T d GB maybe they could sell it to SBS here in OZ. A bit of live coverage could keep me up all night for days on end.
