Cycling industry to descend on top London venue for BikeBiz event

The UK cycle industry's first premium awards night will take place at the Cafe Royal in London's West End on Thursday October 9th.

Over 300 representatives from all sectors of the business will attend, with 14 awards up for grabs. Host for the evening is comedian, author and broadcaster Bob Mills. Organiser Intent Media is running The BikeBiz Awards in the same week as The Cycle Show, which opens to the trade on the same day.

Final award categories will be announced shortly, covering retail, distribution, media and product innovation.

"We're delighted to have secured such a high profile venue as Cafe Royal for this long awaited celebration of a fantastic industry. We also have a great host in Bob Mills," said BikeBiz publisher and Intent Media managing director Stuart Dinsey.

"Cafe Royal is an easy venue for anyone to attend. It is just a minute's walk from Piccadilly Circus tube for anyone coming into town that day, and just a few stops up from Earls Court on the Piccadilly line for those attending the Cycle Show."

The evening includes a free champagne reception from 6.30pm, three course meal & coffee, complementary wine & beer on all tables, casino and late licence until 1am.

"We hope it's clear we will be offering a high class event. If suppliers take customers, then it's an economic night for what is being delivered," added Dinsey.

Tables of 10 are priced at £1,475, with single tickets priced at £165. Contact Orlaith.Kennedy@intentmedia.co.uk to reserve your place.

High value sponsorship packages, inclusive of a free table, on-the-night branding, complementary advertising and more are available via Stuart.Dinsey@intentmedia.co.uk.

It's West End. It's posh. It's a departure for the bike trade, and a welcome one, I'd say. This could be a good opportunity for some of the bigger brands to invite key mainstream journalists and, heck, maybe even VC types. It'll be dead impressive.

And just think how much industry bigwigs pay to get a few of their dealers and pals to Pickwick and the Centenary Club and the like...

Our Singletrack reader awards, also held in conjunction with the Cycle Show a few years ago had Phil Liggett on the mic, three courses, reception drinks et al and was £50 a head. Inflation has crept up on us it seems ;-)

We'll probably still be there though :-)

The Bike Biz Awards are not held in conjunction with the Cycle Show. They are co-incidentally on the same day as our trade day but Cycle is not involved in any way.
We wish Intent Media all the best with their awards.

Ooow! Scratch, scratch. Do I detect a bit of demarcation here? 165 quid. Is that a lot? But,they are mostly suppliers so they have big budgets for entertainment. Why don't they have these shows and awards things in the regional areas. I believe these days,London is even more expensive than... Melbourne - Golden City of the South. We don't have a Bike Show anymore - through lack of interest.
