Last night, Carlton Reid's Quickrelease.tv won a 'best blog' award
As well as being executive editor of BikeBiz, Carlton Reid has a blog which specialises in videos and commentary on bicycle advocacy topics.
At a packed awards ceremony last night, Quickrelease.tv won the 'best use of blogging' category in the North East Digital Awards.
The awards were created by regional development agency One NorthEast, to showcase the North East of England as a hotbed of digital innovation.
240 nominations were received across all categories for the awards, with winners including ITV, and digital campaigns for e.on and other major brands.
Carlton Reid said this was "third time lucky" for his attempts to bag awards. In 2000, DowJones.com beat BikeBiz.com in the European Online Journalism Awards. BikeBiz.com was joint second with BBC.co.uk.
In 2004, Reed Business Information's Personnel Today website beat BikeBiz.com in the B2B website category of the PPA Awards for Editorial and Publishing Excellence, the Oscars of the British publishing industry.
"At last, I'm the bride and not the bridesmaid," said Reid, who cycled to last night's awards presentation.

Well done Carlton. I will have a look at the site. Well you bike shop owners all over UK aren't you impressed? These folk are working for you to promote your businesses and your industry. Awards such as this lift the profile of cycling and that has to be good for you.
