wattbikeWattbikes now available to purchase

The power-measuring Wattbike, endorsed by British Cycling, has been released for sale

Bike shops with a £1650 Wattbike in the corner would be able to sell customers an enormous amount of performance data.

The Wattbike measures peak power and 26 other performance indicators and is now on sale via the Wattbike website.

Dave Brailsford, British Cycling’s Performance Director, said:

"The GB Cycling Team have played an important role in the development of the Wattbike to ensure that it is capable of supporting and making a valuable contribution to our World Class programmes.

“The Wattbike is already assisting the GB Cycling Team in identifying our future stars and its potential in terms of indoor competition in schools and clubs can only be positive in terms of the number of young people coming into the sport in the future."

A statement from Wattbike said: "The Wattbike is set to revolutionise training and sports science testing. Now everyday riders have the opportunity to train under the same scientific conditions as Britain’s all conquering national team, as well as escape the wet, dark winter months."

British Cycling members get a 10 percent discount from the Wattbike website and a trade deal is being finalised.

How does stuff like this get column inches when news like the 15yr old on the twentytwo inch BMX bike beating the National BMX race champs doesn't get a mention?

Enquirer. Because this is a trade website, not consumer.

This would be soooo much better if it was a sizing bike too... i.e. fit 'em up; show 'em performance gains with their new position, etc, etc.
