sramSRAM issues limited recall

Limited number of 10-speed Powerlock chain connectors affected: Manufacturer stresses ‘this is not a chain recall’

SRAM has issued a voluntary product recall following a limited number of 10-speed Powerlock chain connector link failures.

The firm has emphasised that the recall relates to a limited number of outer plates – date coded ‘M’ or ‘N’ – and not a chain recall.

According to SRAM, the plates may develop a crack during installation and initial use and then go on to fail. All affected PowerLocks should be returned and SRAM dealers are advised to contact their SRAM distributor for more details.

SRAM is advising customers to stop using the product immediately: "Failure of the SRAM 10 speed chain PowerLock connector, while in use, may result in loss of bicycle control and possible injury."
