New regulations come in to play this year, with cut off date falling in 2011
Word on the BS 6102 regulations and deadlines has just reached BikeBiz.
Bicycle industry consultant Alan Bush told BikeBiz: "The 2010 Regulations come into effect on April 6th 2010, however the 2003 Regulations will not be revoked until 6th April 2011, which means there is a year's 'sell through' period.
After April 6th 2011, no bikes that are solely compliant with BS 6102 can be sold.
Regulations relating to BMX bikes are expected to take far longer to be finalised, as there are still issues to be resolved relating to braking standards.
