BCF wants to develop better links with the trade

On the day that a Vredestain sponsorship package with the BCF is announced, competition director Bob Barber says the trade could build useful relationships with riders through the BCF

I am keen to embrace what the cycle industry has to offer the sport. There are many opportunities for the industry to showcase their products and deliver them to the best riders in the country at the BCFs
leading events.

In return the industry has the opportunity to generate excellent PR. Im sure that riders would also be very helpful in providing feedback on products supplied in sponsorships.

The Vredestein sponsorship deal will see the Dutch company prviding race winners with tyres as prizes. It was a deal negotiated by Bob Chicken Snr, Vredesteins marketing consultant in the UK.

Winners of all track and road National Points Series events will win pairs of
Vredestein Fortezza, Fortezza Tri Comp or Volante Tri Comp tyres. The top six riders at the end of the series will also receive tyres.

With four Road series (Espoir, Veteran, Women and Zipvit 3rd and 4th Cat)
and four Track series (Sprinters, Points Race, Womens Omnium and Junior Omnium Leagues) set to benefit, over 400 Vredestein tyres will be handed out as prizes during 2001.

The BCFs three neutral service crews will also be equipped with Vredestein
tyres in 2001. Each crew will be issued with 18 tyres.
