Boots does not want to sell Halfords

So says a spokesman from Boots The Chemists, stamping quickly on this weekend's newspaper report that said Halfords - worth £450m - was likely to be offloaded

The Sunday Times reported that Halfords may be up for sale.

What's known is that the Boots Group is "restructuring". This was announced last November. The full details of the business overhaul will be revealed to investors either on or before 31st May, the day the annual results are published.

"Boots is a business in transition. We've got a lot of options we are considering and we always keep the market informed," said a Boots spokesman, denying that the company planned to demerge Boots Healthcare International or sell Halfords.
