More British holidaymakers are taking their bikes on holiday
Nautical travel agency Direct Ferries has announced an enormous surge of interest from the British public in cycling related holidays.
The company has pinpointed the recent successes of the likes of Sir Chris Hoy and Bradley Wiggins in this year's Olympics and Wiggin’s victory at the Tour de France.
Direct Ferries also revealed a huge increase of forty eight percent of holidaymakers opting to take their own bikes with them while using their ferry service compared with last year.
Perhaps unsurprisingly, France is the most popular destination, while other locations drumming up interest from the British are Italy, Denmark, Corsica and Germany.
The director of Direct Ferries Matt Davies said: "With such inspirational figureheads behind the sport, it is no surprise that we are experiencing record numbers of travellers choosing to take their bicycles on holiday with them this summer."
