Cycling Expo to take place on Olympic Road Race weekend

Farrelly Atkinson, the specialist cycling agency that runs road.cc, has revealed it has been chosen to organise a cycling expo on the weekend of the Olympic Road races.

The event takes place on the Official BBC Livesite where Surrey Hills are hosting a Road Race Festival overlooking the Olympic course.

The free-to-attend event will take place Friday July 27th to Sunday 29th, adjacent to the A24 and overlooking Box Hill at tourist attraction Denbies Vineyard.

There will be the large BBC live feed screen at the festival, which has LOCOG approval and the support of Surrey Hill. Food and drink concessions and the usual Festival amenities will feature, while the venue has stand space and corporate hospitality facilities.

F-At event manager Elaine Curtin said upwards of 150-200,000 spectators are predicted to be descending on the area. Curtin added that Denbies is a prime site, with easy access, and is on private land specially selected as a Road Race Festival. Denbies itself can hold 10,000 people at any one time and we expect up to 50,000 people over the course of the weekend.

Director Tony Farrelly commented: “We have no doubt that the cycling public will turn up in their thousands to be part of this Expo. With our track record of putting on the award-winning Expo at Dalby Forest for the XC World Cup, the support of Surrey Hills, and with the venue being an Official BBC Livesite, we will put on the professional event the industry deserves.”
