North of Watford, that is. The powerhouse IBD chain that dominates the south east of England is to open a 3000 sq ft store in Castleford, near Leeds, in November.
"This is the first time in our 80+ year history that we have ventured outside of the south east," said Evans MD Mike Rice.The new Evans store - the chain's biggest - will be at the Xscape complex in Castleford, a retail hub surrounded by an indoor ski slope, climbing walls, cinema, bowling alley, bars and restaurants.
Xscape is a dream destination for anyone into the outdoor lifestyle, and its great to be part of it, said Rice.
Without a doubt its a big step for us. Were expanding into new areas and the company is growing. As the company grows so does our requirement for staff, and were about to launch a major recruitment drive.
Its not just this new store were recruiting for but as our stores grow so does the infrastructure behind them so were looking at making a significant investment in people at our Gatwick head office and warehouse, too.
