Manufacturer expects ‘upscale bike' sales to experience huge growth next year in Taiwan

Merida is expecting a boom in sales of its high-end bikes, predicting a rise of 50 per cent in Taiwan next year.

Merida president Michael Tseng said that he anticipated export growth will slow from this year’s 20 per cent to between five and 10 per cent next year.

Domestically, the firm revealed that it expects sales will top NT$ 1.2 billion (USD 36.36 million) by the end of 2008 – a 300 per cent annual growth figure for the firm.

Tseng also said that the firm plans to open another 10 flagship stores in Taiwan over the next three years, with 30 sales outlets and 70 franchise stores.
