British Retail Consortium figures show worst performance for three years
According to a study by the British Retail Consortium, retail sales fell for a second consecutive month in April. The figures, which highlight a three year low in sales, depict a 1.5 per cent dip in sales compared with the same time last year.The dip follows on from a 1.6 per cent decline in March, which showed the retail sector had sunk to lows not seen since 2005.
The only sectors to record increasing sales were food, homewares and toiletries.
