Industry-funded 'get more kids on bikes' project finishes today
The Sustrans-run, bicycle industry levy Bike Hub-funded Big Pedal competition closes today.
While the final miles are being pedalled by children, teachers and parents as part of the nationwide competition, the total so far stands at a whopping 830,043 journeys logged by the nation's schools.
Mark Cavendish is one of the project's many backers.
1,198 schools have registered to take part in the competition - with a combined school roll of 294,999 pupils.
According to Sustrans stats, on average 49,126 journeys are being clocked each day, with 19 per cent of pupils taking part.
