Westminster council asked to reconsider placement as resident cites 'environmental impact' as objection
A Londoner has asked the High Court to reverse planning consent for one of the Barclays Bicycle Hire stations set to be erected in Mayfair ahead of July 30th's official launch.
The BBC reports that Noel Carroll, 63, of Mayfair has stated "Westminster Council failed to consider the environmental impact of the facility," which was granted planning permission last August.
The planned location, within a conservation area and located near the Mayfair library, is due to recieve its dock this week, assuming the resident's complaint doesn't halt construction.
Mr Carroll believes the installation of the facility will create more noise and congestion in the borough.
The BBC reports Carroll as adding:

"Our beautiful conservation area must not be defaced by this horrible lump of metal," Mr Carroll said.
"It would bring down this very beautiful place. It would not be a very pretty sight."
Westminster Council has opted not to comment while the court case is ongoing.
