Iconic homegrown Raleigh model used as bid prop
Nottingham launched its bid to become 'World Design Capital' yesterday, aided by one of the city's most admired designs - The Raleigh Chopper.
First manufactured in the city in 1967, a group of Choppers were paraded round Market Square as the bid was announced.
Raleigh ceased manufacturing in the city during 2002, shifting its production lines to the far-east, however the distribution centre still operates from Eastwood.
