CES Innovation Award handed over for eneloop model
Two Sanyo products received prizes at the International CES Innovations 2010 Design and Engineering Awards.
Sanyo’s Synergetic Hybrid Bicycle (CY-SPA600NA) – an eneloop model – grabbed the Best of Innovations prize at the awards, which are now in their 33rd year. It scooped the highest overall score in the Eco-Design and Sustainable Technology category. The firm also received an award for its high-def waterproof camera.
The eneloop concept is based on the philosophy of reusing resources such as energy by looping it in a sustainable cycle, said Sanyo.
The eneloop bike itself is a 26-inch, three-speed regenerative, pedal-assist hybrid electric bicycle.
Masami Murata, Sanyo president for North America, said: “We are extremely honoured to be recognised with such high accolades by the Consumer Electronics Association and the panel of well-respected judges.Article continues below
“As an innovative product, the eneloop bike was designed and engineered to help conserve the earth’s resources by allowing consumers to use their own power combined with looping energy from its regenerative capabilities as an alternative means of transportation.”
Sanyo also picked an award last month.
