Road danger fears must be addressed, says transport consultancy
A Scottish Parliamentary Committee has heard that 61 per cent of Scots want to cycle for its health benefits, but many are put off over safety fears, according to the BBC.
Transport consultancy Steer Davies Gleave compiled the findings for the Scottish Government ahead of its aim to increase cycling by 10 per cent by 2020.
Peter Zanxottera, a spokesman for the consultancy, insisted that cycling infrastructure has to improve and that cash must be invested to promote cycling as an everyday means of transport in addition to promoting the sport.
Other cycle organisations, including Spokes, the CTC, Cycling Scotland and Scottish Cycling backed the comments at the committee.
