Chrissie Wellington bags top prize at Sunday Times Awards

Current world record-holder and Ironman triathlon champion has won The Sunday Times Sportswoman of the Year Awards 2009.

The awards were held at the David Beckham Football Academy, London.

Cyclist Victoria Pendleton was also up for the award, against fellow sportswomen Jessica Ennis, Catriona Matthew, Gemma Spofforth and Claire Taylor.

Also at the Awards, cyclist Sarah Storey won Disabled Sportswoman of the Year. Cyclist Elizabeth Armitstead was nominated for Young Sportswoman of the Year, but missed out on the prize.
