Bookman's urban cyclist range is set to include first t-shirts and later a wider collection of garments.
The firm currently produces simple urban cycle lights and has around 40 stockists in the UK, including traditional cycle retailers as well as style-conscious retailers outside cycling including the Conran Shop Marylebone and Liverpool's Utility Bold Street.
Bookman, spotted at this year's Interbike, will be releasing a 100 per cent cotton fashion t-shirt with no logo – the kind of the thing the makers would wear, BikeBiz was told. Stealthy reflective features – like detailing on the sleeves (pictured below), can be folded away, while other features like a longer back and ventilation holes are included.
Bookman is currently being retailed in 35 countries and the UK 'is a great market for us' the firm told BikeBiz.
The minimalist bike lights, aimed at those on the city bike commute, are easy to mount and detach thanks to an elastic pull which can be attached to the handlebar and the taillight goes on the saddle pole. The lights are available in red, blue, black, lemon, green and white with a newly released aluminium version also available. At Interbike, Bookman's representative said there may be a USB-chargeable high powered road light in the works too.Article continues below
