Urbancyclo announces release of Quicktwist

Urbancyclo is a new design-house working exclusively in bike and related components/accessories. They recently announced the release of a new stem project that the brand claims is unique in the market.

The Quicktwist stem was designed in collaboration with Adrian Ward, ex-F1 (Williams, Benetton) design engineer, to produce and market. The initial production run of the Quicktwist stem will be funded by a Kickstarter campaign which the brand says will be launched in the next couple of weeks.

The brand claim the stem is a world-first in its approach to reducing the width of a cycle by up to 80% for parking and storing, by allowing the ‘bars to be rotated up to 90° in either direction.

Quicktwist will be offered in a range of colour combinations and the Kickstarter campaign will include a very limited amount of numbered anodised gold stems. It has also been revealed that Urbancyclo will also offer personalised laser etched stems.

Co-founder Andy Bullock said: "It is my wish that should the Quicktwist be adopted as something of a standard item for urban cyclists, the design will actually have the ability to impact on our built environment. By lessening the impact of awkward parked bikes on the pavements it will allow more bikes to be stored/parked at rail stations (we have a unique ’cassette’ style secure locker system designed for this) and allow more people to keep their cycles off the road and in their city homes at night."
