Velotech takes over Weldtech Training courses

Velotech has taken over the reins of the Weldtech Training business in its entirety.

Velotech will market the courses under the Velotech brand for the cycle mechanic, to avoid potential confusion. Despite the change, Velotech will continue to maintain a close connection with Weldtite, using the brand's range of tools and cycle maintenance products.

A statement from the firms reads: "In 2006 when Weldtite set up the Bicycle Association-approved Weldtech training courses they did not realise how successful this venture would become in the following years. Having originally established the business in their cycle workshop centre in York, the high demand for the courses also meant that a considerable amount of training was also carried out at the customer’s own premises to alleviate the pressure on the York facility.

"In 2008 a decision was made to set up a joint venture with Graeme Freestone King of Velotech Cycling and since this time Graeme has been managing the business very successfully, running the Weldtech courses and externally accrediting them through Velotech.

"In a move to develop the business further, Velotech has now exercised its option to take over the business in its entirety and has established a new and enhanced range of training courses.
