Poor weather hit this year's show, but hopes are high for 2013 event with a revised site layout
York Cycle Show Committee Chair Paul Hepworth has confirmed the dates for the CTC’s 2013 York Cycle Show to BikeBiz.
Next year's York Racecourse-set event will take place over the weekend of June 22nd and 23rd.
Poor weather hit the 2012 show, Hepworth explained: “Like many national outdoor events, our 2012 Show was affected by horrendous weather. But although more famous events like the Great Yorkshire Show were cancelled or curtailed, we took an 11th hour decision to go ahead with our weekend. Although we took an financial hit, it would have been far worse had we cancelled the event.”
Hepworth added: “We are now actively planning for 2013, and are going to reorganise the site layout, so that drivers of heavier vehicles can maximise use of the site’s perimeter tarmac roadway, with a minimal distance on grass to reach the Show’s Trade area parking."
The Show’s website pages are currently being migrated to the CTC’s new beta site. The Show's Twitter feed - @YorkCycleShow - will flag up when the 2013 Trade Packs are available for download from the webpage, anticipated to be during December 2012.
Space for traders to exhibit and/or sell will be in two huge marquees, with an outdoor space in between for those wishing to bring their own tentage. A secure cycle tryout area will feature, and public entry will be by wristband, which also covers access to the whole Cycle Show site.
Hepworth added that one regular trader of past years may be absent in 2013. Barnsley-based Cycle Promotions are reportedly in liquidation, and their long familiar bargain basement marquee may not reappear.
