Burley

This American company has been making trailers for over 30 years. Its top end products are still made in the US. New, lower priced models are now sourced in Asia, but still designed and tested in the US.

The d’Lite is the classic, high-quality trailer for up to two kids. The 2008 version features new elastomer suspension, a new reclining seat, tinted windows with UV protection, improved padded shoulder harnesses and deluxe seat pad, which is removable and washable, and new wheel guards.

Also available is a limited edition Tiger d’lite, with custom designed tiger printed fabric, tiger face, ears and tail. Burley trailercycles are top-of-the-line products. The Piccolo features a 7-speed Shimano shifter; the Kazooo is a singlespeed. Both benefit from Burley’s patented aluminium ball-bearing guided hitch with a double locking mechanism on to the Moose Rack.

EGR’s ‘Sport Wagon’ series of wheeled dog carriers is now available, sold as standard with a bike attachment. People are using Sport Wagon in different ways – for some they provide the opportunity to take their dog for a bike ride and get plenty of exercise themselves. Others add a front wheel and rear handle and use their Sport Wagon as a means of taking an elderly dog for a walk to the park, while others are using it at dog shows to transport their dog and all the gear from the car to the show hall – the wide accessories list even includes a grooming table.

Bellelli

Bellelli has two cargo models available, the Mini with a 40 litre capacity and 31 kg load limit when towed on a bicycle and the Maxi with 60 litres and 70 kg weight limit. Both trailers fit neatly and simply to the seat pin of the bicycle and are both TÜV approved.

Bellelli’s B Taxi is a trailer for transporting up to two children. It features a tough plastic base and a steel roll-bar. The UK wholesale stockists for the trailer include Hykeham, Reece, Avocet and Belvin.

Zigo

The Zigo Leader is a lightweight, foldable bicycle with an integrated child carrier and four operating modes:

Mission

The new Mission Piggyback Mk 2 – with a stronger frame and 24-inch wheels – has been designed for teenagers and young adults. The Mission-designed coupling enables the trailer to turn and manoeuvre on uneven ground while remaining upright. The Piggyback Mk2 will tow with no side-to-side movement, making them ideal for people with a balance problem or special needs.

The rear axle drive shaft and hubs have sealed bearings. Handlebar and seat post height can be easily adjusted. Back rests with side supports and self-leveling pedals can also be added for extra safety. Now comes with a folding tow arm for easier storage. This product is VAT-exempt to registered disabled persons.

The Mission Cargo Trailer has a foldable towing arm and foldable sides.

Avenir

All Avenir trailers include fold-up rain shield and fly screen; two safety belts; rear storage pockets; high visibility flag and easy folding design for transportation. The Avenir tag-a-long is available in steel or alloy frame, 6-speed or single speed.

Pendle

Made out of steel and galvanised for durability, the Pendle six and 12-bike capacity trailers are ideal for group outings and are very popular with cycle hire outlets, schools and councils.

The trailers are fitted with individual bike slots or wheel mounts, which are adjustable to allow for various sizes of bicycles. The bikes are separated by tilting vertical supports, which the frames rest against. They are then held securely by straps, therefore maintaining the bicycles in an upright position to ensure safe transport.

There are optional attachments available to enable the six bike trailer to carry up to two tandems and up to six tandems can be carried on the 12 bike trailer. All Pendle Bike Racks are made in Britain.
