Bigger bike presence for London Bike Show 2012
Alright, David Bailey! What can I say, the show was so exciting I could hardly keep still. For those whose eyeballs have been mortally offended, I'll humbly swap the blurry ones out shortly.

Bike industry stars shine at 2011 trade awards
It was the bike industry what done it! This year a total of 79 judges from the bicycle industry voted, who will be named in the November issue of the magazine. Following this year's awards we've had plenty of enquiries about how people can get involved next year and about how the whole process works. All you have to do is keep them peeled for announcements from us on BikeBiz.com. Every year we ask for the trade to lobby us with who they think deserves an award. After that we put together the list of finalists based on those nominations. At this point we also ask the industry if anyone want to be a judge, they do the judging and then the winners are announced on the Awards night. Dead simple. You can find out more here, which includes all our announcements about the Awards: http://www.bikebiz.com/news/tag/bikebiz-awards-2011

Cycle to Work scheme will be made subject to VAT
Yes, they are bold words indeed from Halfords! We'd like to think, however, that our readers will realise a quote from Halfords about a Halfords service is going to be about as biased as it can be. Comments are very much welcome that take issue with their claim! In fact we'd love to hear comments from independents on what they make of the VAT ruling and we'll gladly publish them on BikeBiz.

LibDem MP presents helmet compulsion bill for child cyclists
An excellent point. It might just be one Lib Dem MP rather than party policy, but all the same, it's coming from the Lib Dem party. Before the election they told BikeBiz they had a range of measures to make life better for IBDs: "All these measures together will help to boost cycling which should be beneficial to independent bike retailers.” http://tinyurl.com/5wue4e6

UK Handmade and Boutique Bicycle Show 2011
I'd guess it will be OK to pay on the door tomorrow. I'm not sure if there a discount for those in the trade though - might be worth checking with the organisers. You can reach them through the official site.

Cycling Federation slams electric car subsidies
The German Government has announced its support for the electric car industry. The revised paragraph now reads: 'Earlier this week German chancellor Angela Merkel announced the German cabinet’s support for the electric car industry, aiming to have one million electric cars on the roads by 2020 with a €2 billion investment for R&D in the sector.'

It's been a long week. I stand corrected and thanks for pointing it out!

Cycling props up the High Street
Re: independents losing out/cycle retail in numbers... I'm trying to get some rough figures on the number of independents shutting compared with opening, so BikeBiz will pick up on those threads soon I hope. Also, I forgot to mention the rise of Decathlon in my article, who now have 13 or so stores.
