10 000 riders sought for Paris finish of Tour de France

La Randonnée du Centenaire is to celebrate the 100 years of the Tour de France.

10 000 riders will be allowed on to the 30km Paris circuit on Sunday, 27th of July 2003.

"Paris by bike, freely, safely: a dream that we invite you to share in the most convivial way," says Joël Lainé, director of La Randonnée du Centenaire.

The event is open to anyone aged 13 and over. There is no entry fee. It’s a leisure ride, not a race. Participants will be given no numbers.

La Randonnée du Centenaire will set off from the Pont d’Iena in Paris at 8.30 a.m.
