12-year-old cycling industry podcast airs look-back episode

The Spokesmen Cycling Roundtable Podcast was first broadcast in August 2006 and, at the weekend, it aired its 200th episode. Co-hosted by Carlton Reid. the celebratory episode features audio from guests the show has interviewed over the years, including rider Jen Voigt, who explained his "shut up legs" epithet.

The 105-minute episode also features disgraced rider Floyd Landis and Tour de France commentators Bob Roll, Ned Boulting and Phil Liggett.

Academics Dr Rachel Aldred and Professor Bert Blocken talked about cycleways and aerodynamics respectively, while bike shop owners Ed Zink of Colorado and Peter Darke of Sunderland and BikeBiz Woman of the Year Cerri Dipple were also on the show.

The Spokesmen was founded by David Bernstein, the former industry executive who introduced the Full Speed Ahead brand to the US market. He also co-hosts the show from his home in Utah.

Episode 200 also features MTB legends Jacquie Phelan and Gary Fisher. MTB pioneers Joe Breeze and Charlie Kelly recorded their contribution in Reid’s kitchen, reveals the show.

Industry veterans Rick Vosper and Jay Townley are also on the best-of episode, which was uploaded yesterday.
