Details are sketchy right now but Michael Meacher, the minister in charge of the Rural Task Force, has announced that Devon, Cumbria, the North East and Welsh Borders will benefit from the emergency £23m

£23m awarded to FMD-blighted regions

The cash will filter down through Regional Development Agencies.

The DETR website doesn’t have much on the announcement yet:

"Regional Development Agencies are deciding what measures to operate in their areas and will be announcing the details and who to contact shortly."
