2pure reports trend-bucking 28% turnover gain in 2015

It has been widely reported that 2015 was a challenging trading year for the cycling industry, but Edinburgh’s 2pure has revealed that it was an exception to the trend and saw substantial growth in turnover over the period.

2pure operates in the Cycle, Run, Outdoor, and Snow markets, and has recently added TomTom, Unior tools, KT tape, and OS1st to the portfolio.

Commercial director Iain Baird said: “We managed to increase our turnover by 28 per cent in the year, which exceeded our expectations – albeit with some reduction to margin in some areas, mainly due to some adverse currency movement. We had better stock availability on most brands, yet our stock turn improved due to improved buying and new systems.”

Sales director Marco Librizzi added: “Even some of our largest and most mature brands managed to achieve record sales in the year, with some growing by nearly 50 per cent. We are carrying great momentum into 2016, and will continue to support that with a full schedule of sales programmes and marketing activity.”

George Bowie, MD and founder of the company, commented: “We strengthened our team in some important areas over the last year: Richard Peploe joined as a non-executive director, bringing considerable knowledge of the cycle industry; Ben Sutcliffe joined as Head of Merchandise, and has extensive experience in stock management and ordering. Both had previously worked for many years at distributor Madison.

"We still have a couple more key appointments to make so that we are can continue to provide the level of service that we have always offered our brand partners.”
