Round up of the numbers at this year’s bike festival

50,000 went to Sea Otter Classic 2011

The US-set Sea Otter Classic has passed over the statistics from the latest show to BikeBiz.

Around 50,000 spectators headed to Sea Otter Classic this year, with 325 companies exhibited their wares. 8,500 athletes took part, while 300 members of the media reported from the event. 400 took part in the ‘Ladies Activities’ and 1,600 volunteers helped with the running.

The first Sea Otter Classic was held in April 1991, with 150 spectators and 350 athletes.

This year’s festival included a ‘Dealer Days’ programme, including dealer-only demo rides and exclusive access to some of Sea Otter’s race venues. The programme was free to accredited dealers.

Next year’s Sea Otter Classic will take place April 19th to 22nd, 2012 at Monterey California.
