Could Everti's new titanium road bike be world's lightest production model?

A new lightweight record?

Everti has claimed that its new Eagle has undercut current mass-production road bike weight record, bringing to market a road bike weighing just 5.17kg (11.4lbs).

It’s definately lighter than the Trigon EX1 Zero, which tips the scales at 5.91kg and also once claimed to be the world’s lightest production model.

Owner of Everti Bicycles, Kurt Knock, said: "We have spent the past year refining the details and product testing to ensure everything will stand up to real-world riding. The only limitations of this bike are the legs that are going to be pushing the pedals. As with all of our other road frames the Eagle frame features a double butted 3/2.5 front triangle mated to a straight gauge rear triangle and has a warranty of 25 years.

"Many of the components on this bike are designed for riders under 200lbs so we feel it is best to suggest a rider weight limit around 180lbs to keep everything well within the manufacturer’s warranties. Some of the component highlights include: Sram Red shifters and
derailleurs, Zipp cranks and bars, Extralite hubs and stem, Edge Composites rims, Tufo S3 215 tires, KCNC cassette and brakes, Ritchey WCS seatpost and fork, and Selle Italia SLR saddle."

Another thing that weighs in below expectations is the price – set at $9995 USD. (£6,820.59 at the current exchange rate)

Merida has previously claimed that it holds records for both the lightest road and off road frames.

Forum members can add to this thread if they can think of a lighter mass production road bike.
