was pipped at the post at last night's 'publishing Oscars' awards ceremony by Reed Business Information's Personnel Today website.

Always the bridesmaid… had been shortlisted in the B2B website category of the PPA Awards for Editorial and Publishing Excellence 2004.

The awards – now in their 24th year – are organised by the Periodical Publishers’ Association. With 800 entries and 163 judges, the PPA awards are the Oscars of British publishing and, last night, 1500 movers and shakers from the world of magazines saw flashed up on to giant screens in a posh London hotel.

However, just like at the same award ceremony in 2002, micro-site couldn’t quite trump the multi-million pound websites from the giants of publishing such as Reed, EMAP and VNU.
