Retailer to follow Chain Reaction Cycles' example and open a physical store?

‘Amazon will be on the High Street by 2020’

Rumours that online retail giant Amazon is poised to make an appearance on the High Street have surfaced again.

According to a report on BikeBiz sister site Toy News, Amazon will have physical outlets by 2020.

The prediction has been made by property specialist Jones Lang Lasalle (JLL).

JLL head of retail Guy Grainger said: “The UK consumer has totally adapted to online retailing and we have more online sales than France and Germany added together. But online is not the Holy Grail and the property sector is not going to be killed by online – quite the opposite. A property strategy linked directly to online strategy is the key ingredient.

“Purely online retailers will have more impact with a multichannel strategy and I certainly believe that it won’t be long before ASOS and Amazon have a physical presence.

Grainger’s words reflect the strategy of the cycle industry’s largest online retailer. Chain Reaction Cycles opened a store last year.
